PAST PROGRESSIVE

 

¿QUÉ ES EL PAST PROGRESSIVE?

Se refiere a una acción que estaba en proceso en el pasado. Cuando hablamos de pasado progresivo nos referimos a acciones o situaciones que estaban en proceso en el pasado. Estas acciones o situaciones fueron temporales, interrumpidas o incompletas.

 

¿CÓMO USAR EL PASADO PROGRESIVO EN INGLES?

El uso del pasado progresivo en ingles puede resumirse al simple hecho de seguir estrictamente su estructura, el cual se asemeja a la del presente progresivo con la excepción de que se cambia el verbo to be a su tiempo pasado "was" o "were”.

 

ESTRUCTURA DEL PAST PROGRESSIVE:

             She

Was     He

              It

               I

                 You

Were       We

                  They

 

 

 

 

 

 

  • AFIRMATIVE FORM:

Subject + was-were + verb + ing + comp

EXAMPLE:

  • I was working yesterday

  • He was talking on the phone

  • She was watching TV

  • It was running fast

  • We were listening music

  • You were walking with your boyfriend

  • They were cleaning the house

 

 

  • NEGATIVE FORM:

Negative + subject + was-were + not + verb + ing + comp

EXAMPLE:

  • No, I was not sleeping last night

  • No, He was not cooking lunch

  • No, She was not taking a shower

  • No, The dog was not eating it´s food

  • No, We were not fighting

  • No, You were not studying math

  • No, They were not looking at me

Auxiliary + was-were + subject + verb + ing + comp +?

EXAMPLE:

  • Was she kissing her boyfriend?

  • Was He driving his car?

  • Was the cow eating grass?

  • Was I waiting for you?

  • Were you reading a book?
